Head gasket? and Door remote problems

you guys have been great in the past here are two now problems.
First I have 2 Sportages, a 2001 and a 2000.
First problem- on my 2001 4wd, the door remote unprograms itself it just stops working. if I open the drivers door with a key the horn goes off. Any ideas whey it does this, then a few days later the remote works again. I know how to reprogram it, but why is it loosing then regaining the remote.

That was the easy one, now the 2000 2wd. My daughter has it at school 300 miles from me, so I can't pull any codes till she comes down from school. the radiator is losing antfreeze. there is no foaming at the oil cap, nor contamination in the oil, which I change regularly. engine is running a bit rough at idle. She says it sometimes accelerates by itself when she drives. it did stall one day, and the check engine light went on, and stayed on for a few days, then went off. My thinkinging is a pin hole in the head gasket is pressurizing the radiator, it is not overheating. I replaced the overflow bottle and cap, because the cap was distorted and didn't fit right. I thought she might be loosing anifreeze by bypassing the overflow and not recovering it, so I changed the bottle. last time I saw the car, she was down 1/2 a gallon over about 1,000 miles. It's going someplace, no leakes no evidence, except the rough runnng. I hate to be at the mercy of the Kia dealer where she goes to college, but I'm a little afraid to have her drive it home at the end of the semister. any ideas?

on the first one the remote may need a new battery.

the second one very well could be the heater core because one of the sportages shortfalls is they GLUED the heatercores together. thats right instead of soldering or stamp folding they glued them together and just about every sportage starts to leak at 60 thousand miles. and the worst part is it takes the average do it your selfer 12 hours to replace this part. below is a link for a enthusiast writeup on the procedure.

that's encouraging, all you need is a screwdriver right, maybe a few shots of bourbon and a trip to the shrink before starting. I think the heater problem is a few acorns got into it, and are jammed against the flapper. if I have to I'll make a port on one side and go in there with a flexible grabber tool I use in plumbing, and put a patch there with some sheet metal screws. I wonder why the door panels were off.
