PCM Problem?

The other day I was cleaning the inside of the car and some of the engine...
Anywho, I forgot to connect the PCV hose back onto the valve and the car went ca-poot and did not want to start right after... the first time I tried the PCM I guess freaked because all my lights came on and the trunk popped open :dunno:
I let it sit for a while, then tried again and it slowly turned over and I got it started again.... I was hearing this little clank noise coming from somewhere on the belt... and it was at random. Sounded like something was out of position or something but it stopped eventually... I still get my knock noise when I rev the car in park really high...
But the real problem is, Now that the car is running again, my 1st-2nd shift feels like stock? :dunno: it still goes to w/e RPM then shift but its like it goes lets say... 3000rpm then it gives a little extra rpm and I have no control for a short milisecond... feels like it bogs down to shift. It only does this on the first shift, everything else is just fine and hard shifts like it should.
99' Grand AM SE 3.4L - (DHP PCM)
Right now im just kinda taking it easy, maybe it'll fix itself heh

If you started the car with out the PCV hooked up,
it just needs time to recalibrate the vacum with the PCM.
I wouldnt think your PCM would cause this itself.
The shifting thing is probly just coinsidental and should straighten out too. Might hav your trany fluid checked also just to make sure its not low.
On the clanking noise, thats hard to say as thiers many things that can make noise, probly your powersteering pump. My GT's PS pump make all sorts of rattles.

yea I kinda figured it just re-config'd itself... I also disconnected the battery while I was waiting.. forgot to add that... but eh either way it feels weird, not the hard shift im use to but its still pretty quick :dunno: .. since I did get the leaks fixed in the exhaust it might of been better to reset the battery and have it relearn everything
trans fluid im pretty sure is fine, I had the synthetic service done a while ago but Im seeing no leaks on the ground... its not like its slipping, its something w/ the computer and shifting, pretty sure
I guess Im fine for now, I havent had time to see if its making the noise anymore but it works :dunno:

:uhoh: you didnt mention noise ?! ?
Also the vacum line that conects to the PCV, follow it on top of the TB, Sometimes they leak there.
Just a rubber gasket wrapped around the plastic tube that sticks down into the intake.
But you'll probly be fine with your shifts after a few drives. I dont know if disconnecting the battery really resets anything, these arent your parents cars

been drivin around some more today and it feels like this shift problem is different than I could of explained...
I think the crank positioning w/ the PCM might be off and I might need another CASE learn... kinda thought long and hard and its acting like it was before the CASE learn.... still power, odd shifts

Damn... looks like you'll just have to give me your PCM for free :evillol:

Ha you wish :grinno:
When I get paid again ima run it up to the dealer and see if I cant talk with the same guy about doing a CASE learn, if that doesnt solve it then it might be a more serious problem..
But basically when I was tryin to start the car It would turn the crank but nothing would set off cause not enough was turning the crank untill I guess it got into a spot to where it was able to turn a little bit more for ignition... that noise I was talkin about might of been the crank shaft being knocked around due to being out of position :uhoh: and the PCM might of corrected it safely so no major damage was done... thats really I can figure because the noise stopped and its running somewhat smooth again except for the shifts

I wouldnt jump on getting the PCM relearn done just yet.
Thiers no way that it should hav messed up(the PCM) without someone adjusting the settings.
I dont think your crankshaft is the problem here either.

:dunno: im kinda iffy on doing it too cause im not sure what the problem might be... all I know is that there was a noise that isnt there anymore lol, my shifts are being bogged down by the computer.. and I just hope that IS the problem.... it'll go to 3k 3.5k 4k rpms before shift like normal but it'll bog down 500-1000rpms ish before picking up again.. like its protecting itself.

So is thier any service lights on on the dash ?
I'd double check that those vacum lines arent leaking anywhere on the engine and the air intake.

no service lights, starts up fine, idles ok and no noises
ill try and check the hoses when I get home today

I hate how my car like drops several RPM's before shifting. I need a PCM or maybe I have similar problems to what you're having... I don't remember it ever taking this long to shift when I first got it.

checked the hoses, air intake... its in, the back pcv valve hose is ok on the sensor :dunno: looks all good...
The rpm drop is about 500rpms after watching it more closely, it seems like my skip shifts are gone but iono, the acceleration has gone down, now it spends most of the effort getting to a faster speed on w/e 2nd or 3rd gear that it is on then shift to 3 or 4...
Im gonna try and find my PCM post when I first got it, I remember stating some facts about it I was dealing with before the CASE learn..... Im starting to think that it might be the fix...

May need your trany fluid/filter changed again,
might help the bogdown feeling.
Could hav a VB in the trans going out.
Your Pcm wouldnt reset just because the pcv valve was left open.
Does the pcv hav suction when the cars runing?
(Pull it out when the cars running and put your thumb over the part that goes into the valve cover)
Your intake/TB/EGR port could be clogged with carbon and making it bogg down.
Thiers lots of things, other than the pcm that would make it lose power.
As far as that noise, could be the power steering pump, your timing gear(s), oil pump .....
Might take it some where that can read body/trans codes and see if thiers a trans DTC.
might help the bogdown feeling.

VB ?
pcv has sucktion... If I pull it though while running it almost kills the car
Forget what the EGR is :dunno: lol
As for the noise it was something knocking with the rotation of the belt.. w/e that was moving at the speed of the rpms... it was being knocked around.. I still havent heard it yet
It almost seems like my gas usage went up, power is down, shifts are off... ill try and stop by the kwik kar and see if they can scan it for anything.... I could still maybe get a tranny code w/ no service light right?
im still sorta leaning towards the CASE learn, my skip-shifts are off as well... it'll go thru the whole gear slowly unless im almost WOT :dunno:
alot of the stuff im facing is sorta how the car acted before hand
might help the bogdown feeling.

Vavle body (VB) is in the trans.
The engine shouldnt die when you remove the pcv that sounds like you hav another vacum leak somewhere......
I didnt see any warnings on the pcm replacement that warned of disconnecting the battery.
I did just read in another forum here about 3.4's back fires causing something to go wrong, though I hadnt ever heard this before. :dunno:
I'll find that post and check into it !
