i bought a 96 integra GSR a couple months back that had been well taken care of and never ran hard. well being an idiot i ran the car hard and drove about 10000 miles in about 2 months. while traveling out of town for work i started to hear a knocking sound and lost acceleration. needless to say i pulled over and got it towed. i had a mechanic tell me i needed a new crank kit and i needed to rebuild the top of the motor because of a broken rod? or bolt? in the bottom of the engine. well long story short i gave a deposit and he freakin dipped town and had to get it towed 300 miles back home where im stuck with no idea what the problem is any guesses????? i want to rebuild but no knowledge of engines just everything else on a car. i need some major help

you should take the head off and see if you bent any valves and also take the oil pan to check to see if you lost a rod or anything broken on the bottom block. that would be problaly the first thing to do before having someone work on it and to be sure how badly you messed it up

If you snapped a rod while driving you would've heard it and felt it. From what you describe, it shouldn't be that although there could very well be a problem with your rods. You're gonna need to tow it to a shop and have them tear it open cuz it doesn't sound like you need to be taking your head off solo. And if you did, it doesn't seem you would really be able to do much about it.

But definitely track down the guy who ripped you off for your deposit!
