System not performing right

i dident do the measuring right so i put it in the backseat since they never get used anyways. I had the system installed at circuit city and it looks like the guy did a good job except it doesnt get loud at all. I dont know what it is cuz i dont know shit about this stuff, im learning, slowly. But uh if anyone could tell me what they think is wrong it would be great. Thanks

2 problems 1 that enclosure is not made for those subs, 2 which way are the ports facing, if you lay the rear seat down and face the ports in the trunk it should get louder. Also check the settings on the amp to see what is set to what.

You could also try looking at the wiring. Sometimes the wires could be in backwards meaning positive with negative and vice versa. Thats the problem that I had when i installed my first system. Everything was hooked up nicely and the subs hit but barely any bass came from them. Just a suggestion.

what amichals is saying is the + and - from the amp might be connected to the + and - of one speaker and the - and + of the other speaker. One is pushing when the other is pulling, it's called being out of phase. Also, as pimrolla was saying, that is a bandpass box. Those boxes are built for a specific speaker and work very poorly with any other speaker(s) in it.

Check to make sure it is wired up right first, if it is - those speakers may not work right in that box.

On my system i had to reverse the polarity on one and set the other one up normal. Otherwise it didnt hit, it sounded like shit to.

Hey guys thanks alot for all your responses. My amp is set to mode=full frq= is in the middle bass boost= is all the way up and the level= is in the middle. My back seats dont go down so the ports are facing towards the front. I had them installed inverted and thought maybe that was the problem so i reversed them. Guess ill try to switch the wiring around today, see what happens. Thanks again guys.

no, you you don't reverse BOTH speakers, just one of them. If the mode is set to full freq, you need to set it where it only plays bass below a certain freq, usually called LP or LPF.

Looks like my system just blew today, dident even have a chance to reverse the wiring. I was on my way home from work and started to smell something burning, got home and the right speaker is smelling like shit and the amp wont turn on? This is the system from hell, flippin sucks to be my first.
