Currently I have a 3000gt sl 5 speed. Ime going to be selling it because there are no good upgrages for the n/a like I have, and the mods that there are are WAY to much cash. I was wondering w/out turbo how much hp can you put into a civic ex vtec 96+ and are they sohc or dohc, I know the SI's are dohc, and does it play a key part when modding the ex's if they are dohc and sohc. btw. my 3000gt does 1-40 in first gear 2 gear 40-90- 3 gear 90-120 4 and 5 nothing happens like the gears change but not more speed. I was wondering with a stage 3 clutch would a civic be able to do that, my 3000gt is all stock.

A 96+ civic will put out about 130 Hp stock with modification maybe 160. If you are looking for sumthing fast you may want to look into an RX7 :). but im a little biased on that. ;)

Yeah the second gens are pretty nice especially the Turbo2's the make 200 bHP stock and are easily modifiable to 300 with a few thousand in mods. I think all you need for 250+ RWHP (rear wheel horse power about 15% loss through drive train) is full exhaust, intake and a fuel computer.
The downside is that they are not very good in snow.
Not alot of mechanics know how to work on them because most people dont understand there is a difference between a piston and a rotary engine.
Once most people realize what the differences are and take care of the car then a rotary is a very nice car. 250+ at the wheels +2800lbs = low 13's
P.S. they are not garbage they are very reliable and good on gas.
