you should be able to easily hit 200 or more. Thats if the front end and tires hold up. It would be a good idea to check out your clutch adjustment. If you look where the clutch cable goes into the tranny you will see a plastic nut you can turn to adjust the clutch. You turn it clockwise to tighten it up. If a lot of threads are exposed on the clutch cable where you adjust it, then its already been adjusted before and it may be safe to assume the clutch is burned out. Check the clutch in the car by turning the car on and seeing how easily the tranny goes into gear, it should slip into gear easily before you push the pedal to the floor, if you have to push it all the way to the floor..you either need to adjust it, or replace it....

BTW...if the synchros were the culprit, you would need a new tranny...replacing the synchros is a risky endevour if you have never done it....if your here in canada those trannys aren't easy to find used...i've been there

Dare I disagree with the viper-blue - the clutch is the clutch, and it treats all gears equally. The clutch checking procedure I will not even comment on.

Most probably you need to replace the syncro sleeve, or swap your tranny. I wouldn't say replacing syncros "is risky" - not riskier than any other serious job on your car.

As for the speed - this IS risky. If you did not restore and improve your suspension, steering , and brakes it is VERY risky. Not even mentioning your car's body probably lost most of its stiffness already.

EDIT: and you can find syncro for example here: http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/auto/jsp/mws/prddisplay.jsp?inputstate=5&catcgry1=Civic&catcgry2=1991&catcgry3=3DR+SI&catcgry4=KA5MT&catcgry5=5MT+++++MAINSHAFT

I'm not always right. With first gear being so short even if the clutch isn't adjusted properly, you can pretty much power shift to second, without needing much clutch (not that I'm recommending power shifting) so once you get into the higher gears and shift at a lower rpm, an out of adjustment clutch problem could show itself. I'm not saying I'm right though..just an idea

its recommended you have the flywheel turned...its all up to you....if its all marked up cause you didn't change your clutch soon enough, then you definately should...if its not marked up then just clean it up good with some sandpaper. At approximately 210 kms, my crx is revving at 6500. Mine revs around the same as yours at 160 though. I don't know the mechanical condition of your car, but hondas love the redline

that link is good..if you have a credit card and can order online they give you a considerable discount over other shops
