What kind of clearence do you have behind your back seat and the amps? If you sit in the seat, do you fell the amps if you lean back? Looks good !

no you can not feel the amps, but instead of using 2x4 blocks you can use plywood blocks, you just need something to get a small drywall screw through without hitting the metal of the truck.

Did ya' have to post stuff like this!!! Now I have to look at doing something to my stereo!! Ok, so how do I explain it to my wife.

1. The speakers are blown and I need new ones. (lie #1)
2. I read somewhere that it saves gas by equilizing air pressure. (lie #2)
3. The democrats are in control now and I need to turn up the stereo to cancel out all of the voices in my head. ( I wish it were a lie #3)
4. And last, but not least, "It's my money and I can do what ever the @#$! I want to with it woman!" (suicide statement #1. Boy, I could tell you I would be dead in the blink of an eye!!!)

Anyway, where did you get the speakers, and can you give me the spec. on them as far as model #s, and lastly, how does it sound?

Sincerely,

Matt

How about number 5? Go out and buy the equipment without her knowing (if you can hide reciepts) and tell her that you bought them from a guy that you work with for way cheaper than you really paid. Say $100. It was a one time deal, yes or no, right then and there. So you bought them for $100 instead of $500 new in the store thinking she would agree that it was a deal you could not pass up! HAHA. Prob wont work but it should. Women use the mentality that if its on sale for a good price, then you should buy it because they are saving money...... blah blah Know what i mean?

LOL GOOD LUCK!!

it sounds pretty good, i still have to dial it in, not real happy with the sub box but the mids and highs soound pretty decent, the mid/high components are not the best, but in time i will upgrade to a bigger amp and better speaks.

oh before i forget, does anyone else who has this box notice that the bottem of the back seat rests on top of the box and makes a squeak sound when your driving? the box seems a tad tall. its really pissin' me off.

I was thinking about getting a sub box like that. Does it not give off good bass? What box are you thinking of going with next? I have 2 10's in individual box's and i am not satisfied with the sound they give out either. I was hoping a box like that would be better but i guess not

as far as the bass goes, i personally don't think it sounds that good. not a big fan of sealed boxes. i am not saying you won't enjoy the sound of the box it just pisses me the sqeeking noise it puts off. you are better of building a custom box that you know will fit and that you can match to your sub.

Dont know personally how well it works BUT...... My bro works with a guy with that has an ext cab and he doesnt use box's. He has 2 10's with an open frame under the back seat. My brother has heard his system and says that it pounds! The theory is that since they are tucked under the back seat, it acts like a box enough as it is. So he is experiencing good sound with no box at all. Like i said, I personally have never heard the system but my brother is not an idiot, and he isnt easily impressed. Has anyone else ever heard of this, it was new to me and my bro.

I had 2 12's in a turn-down box in my truck. It bassed really well. But it's best to dynomat around the area so it doesn't rattle the panels.

Oh, that makes sense.

I thought it might be bew like blue or something since he has a blue truck.

Don't you hate it when you have a red neck on the forum trying to figure out all these fancy saying.

Since my area is so infested with gangs I started SAG.

Snipers Against Gangs.

So far they keep away or it could be because they see about 10 of us cleaning Ar-15 and .50 BMG guns at my house after going to the gun range.

We look like a bunch of man apes walking around trying to look like bad a$$ in the garage.

I know, I need to grow up.

Have a great day. :evillol:

Nothin wrong with those guns , usually have one on my side . compact and keeps the hands free for work .Are the amps mounted behind the seat? Is there a button or strap to pull to get it forward ? I have not found one yet . Only had the Silvy a couple of months . I bought a Bazooka tube for mine but have not installed it yet . Front speaker is crackling now , Got to use excuse #1 soon. Rob
P.S. I thought the koozie was on the gear shifter.

As far as i know Silverados dont have a button to flip them down. (ext cabs i mean) I know my 99 doesnt for sure. Taking out the rear seats only takes about 3-5 min depending on what tools you have. Easy enough to get to. Plus once you get the settings where you want them at, you dont really need FAST access to them. Just my opinion, but i could just be :screwy: lol.

I didnt think so. The rear seat pretty much has hooks that hold it to the cab so i dont think any of them flip down.

My 93 Silverado flipped up and flipped down.. I am actucally surprised they took that option out. Yeah i dont see why they wouldnt continue that idea...... Would love to meet an engineer to ask them a few questions, lol. I want to know why in 99 they didnt put in a 4th door on the ext cab. They put in 3 but didnt think that people would want access to the other side?:screwy:

They started putting the 4th door in mid 2000.
My truck is a 2000 but with the 3-door :(
I wish I would have known that, I would have watched out for that.

Do you guess like the way the NBS 07's ext cab doors open? all the way to the bed of the bed of the truck. Finally!!!

Nice job! I've been meaning to do something like this since I bought my 01 back in Jan. Just ordered some headlights (Sylvania Silverstar Ultra's) and once I get a bill or two paid off it's time I get a stereo. I already have a 4 channel amp for the mids and tweets, so all I need is a single sub and another Amp and I'm good to go.

Seen a nice Sub enclosure that uses the center console, but doesn't fit the silverado, would be nice if they made one that did, that way a guy wouldn't have to give up the space under the back seat.

When I was installing my amps behind the rear seat i cut the hooks a little bit, took off the V shaped cable holding it down and now my seat is able to fold down when i need to get access to my amps.

does cutting the hooks off effect the safety of the seat? Is it unsafe to ride in the back seats after cutting them? Thats my only concern.

nope the hooks are still long enough to hold the seat back. If u wanna flip the seat down u just hav to pull on the straps to make the seat go up and the hooks will unhook and the back part will fold down.

I almost got into the IBEW on my first attempt to take the exam. I almost passed, and i know if i went again i would pass for sure. But since you have to wait 6 months inbetween tests, i never took the second before finding where i am working now. Would have been cool, i respect the hell out of IBEW, but i am happy where i am at. :grinyes:
