91 sunbird 2 litre, running good. catalytic converter taken off. timing good. new sparkies. but it sure burns gas for a 4 cylinder.
possible the ECM has to been changed, any suggestions? thanks

These cars arent the best for fuel mileage...I typically get 20-something mpg if I dont romp on the gas too much...

I get around 13-14. If I could get 20, that would be fabulous.

Have you replaced the wires, cap and rotor? What octane gas are you using?

I assume you are still running the front O2 sensor. By that I mean the one that is located in front of the cat? If so change it with a new one. I think you will see the mileage improve significantly.

Fortunately Sunbirds are graced with a single 02 sensor at the very front of the vehicle easily accessed from above. No second o2 sensor on board :)

using regular gas, not sure if the upgraded ones work any better, if I recall. I will check into the O2 sensor part of it, just have to locate it. thanks for the suggestions.
