1996 hood latch broken - help!

My 96 civic's hood latch is broken. I need a diagram to figure out how to open the darn thing. The cable seems to be operating at the handle end, and I can hear it in the vicinity of the latch.

Any advice would be welcome, as I need to fix it today or tomorrow.
