researched and never did come up with the same symptions.2003 envoy SLT...my wife loves this thing.Problem being is that it has been back to GMC dealer 4-5 times for the same problem, always on the back of a roll back. She goes out to start it.....nothing,notta,zilch....panel,lights radio ect come on...when key is turned to start position everything goes dead.release key everything is normal again.Seems like it is reading surface voltage.1st time they said battery was bad...$170.00 later (said battery isn`t covered under bumper to bumper warrenty)..started fine. The next 3-4 times they couldn`t find anything.Eventually it would start and be ok...for a while.Last time (two weeks ago) I had technican go out and try and start it as soon as we removed from roll back...QUOTE: It won`t start (imagine that)..two days later they called and stated it was ready to go...but they didn`t find anything wrong.I`m thinking, mebe ign sw (not key sw)...bad dash ground or puter taking a dump? Any one ever run across these symptions before....Or time to force a buy back???...Thanks Sid

I assume this is still under warranty, no year mentioned. In NYS 4 times back for the same repair in 24/18 qualifies for lemon law abitration if the problem affects driveability, value or safety. I'd also question that battery issue, check your warranty book.

Sounds like an all too common ignition switch failure. You get the symptoms you describe when an ign switch goes out. They can be disassembled and cleaned. It's a real cheezy part. Hard to beleive your dealership is not familiar with this?!:uhoh: This is a VERY common failure item on these trucks. Personally I would go to another dealership.

like i said it`s a 2003...this will be the 4th time back to GMC dealer for the same thing in a years time.Asked service mgr if they checked ign modul (not key sw) said they thought so??? any how he said that they probably would replace ign modul .But to day one of three things are going to happen!1...I am going to press the issue with the battery and two tows that i paid for (last time was a no charge) as the issue wasn`t repaired from the start. And I don`t go along at replaceing (trial/error) parts at the customers expence!!! I have worked as a mechanic for over 34 years (ret) mostly on trucks and can understand where they are comeing from...IE: if we can`t locate the problem and it repairs its self how can we find it. Or worse comes to worse...talk to them about a buy back....lets face it we now have a safty problem and not an inconvience. My wife is parinoid about driveing her vehivle...what if it looses power while driveing???...or strands her???...i`ll let you know the out come...thanks Sid

It differs from state to state, but I highly doubt a buy-back is even an option for a soon to be 4yr old vehicle. Again, research your symptoms on envoy or trailblazer sites. 99% of the time it is the ignition switch/module.
