wire harness

hey i got 91 honda civic si and i just bought a d16z6 motor i was wondering if i should use the original wire harness from my A6 or use the one on the Z6?

You ALWAYS use the stock harness regardless of what motor you put into your car: D15, D16, B16, B18a/b, B18c, H22, etc and regardless of what OBD the new motor is. There are very few exceptions to this rule such as dropping in a K20. You can trust me on this as I make custom swap harnesses for people.

Just plug in your stock injectors and all your stock wiring. You will then have to run two new wires. One for vtec oil pressure and one for the vtec solenoid. Done.

Thanks BamBam, I was wondering that on my B18 swap. I couldn't ever find anyplace that said to use the stock wiring or what. I know on mine I also had to run MPFI. Which I had pulled the complete harness out of the engine bay before and completely redone it for MPFI, just gotta run the wires to the ECU.

On the Ba8A1(i believe, out of a 90 Teg LS)I don't need to run any extra wires other than the MPFI, correct?

if you have an 88-91 civic/crx dpfi, then all you need to run any mpfi non vtec motor is to convert to MPFI. That's it.

Ok, thanks. It might end up with a Z6 for the time being(w/o VTEC), just to get the thing going while I get money for the B18. Might do a LS/Vtec if I can find a head for cheap.

Great choice. I took a year to build mine. Worth EVERY penny. Cheapest way to run 12's all motor.

I would Tony, but I already have 1 Z6 laying around, 1 in the race car, 2 4g trannies laying around, a 90 Teg just sitting, a 86 CRX racecar just sitting, and I just bought a 95 Civic EX Coupe, so I'm kinda swamped/broke right now.
