I cant answer that one, but it would be a great idea to have a 1/24 wheel database on AF. Everyone could contribute with pics of the rims and pics as they appear on their models. Just a thought...Jay????

Yep, I'm sure I can contribute to the wheel database, huh ZoomZoom? The problem with wheel kits is they make them in short runs and they sometimes get reissued and sometimes not. Fujimi cheesed up and stopped putting Brembo's in theirs for the most part. Many of Fujimi's latest offerings have been 17" also. So even if we do a database, access to the wheel kit will be hit or miss.

I'm willing to post pics and matching descriptions of all that I have since I usually decide which kit to build by the wheels I happen to like at the timeThe problem with wheel kits is they make them in short runs and they sometimes get reissued and sometimes not. The best advice I can offer is to buy them when you have a chance! If my offer is considered a good one, let me know and I will get to work on it right away!!!:)

Okay, if we were to make a database, what data regarding the item would we intend to capture? ;)

Close up pics of the wheels and tyres along with examples of models they have been fitted to perhaps?

I, personally, would be very interested in a log of which are 'male' and which are 'female.'
How big should close up pics be? Should we make any effort to catalog kit wheels, too? Should tires be cataloged? Together with the wheels, or separately?

What would also be good is for people to keep a look out for which wheels are available at HLJ and Hobby search etc and raise awareness when stocks are replenished. That way all the AF members can get their hands on them before anyone else:D

Price in Yen as that will be where we get most of them from.

Price may not be useful as it varies by continent and over time, but you really want to know
if the wheel has a stub axle (Tamiya style) or
a bushing (Fujimi style).
Aoshima does both styles.
Would it be useful to list what tires are included ?

Tamiya have also gone to the bushing style fitting at random, for example, the Subaru STi. The bushing style wheel mounts vary in diameter with the various wheel makers, of course the wheel you want to use on a given model invariably has to to be tweaked to fit.

hey! that's a great idea, a database for available parts for kits. nwayz 'bout the price yeah it varies, maybe indicate a price bracket??? tires are somewhat important too. cuz sometimes when i buy the wheel set the rims are great but then the tires are thick from the side, so it doesn't look low enough to create a low profile image. yup, and it should include what type it is bushings or stubs. and perhaps list the width (mm) too, so we'll know if we can use it for a wheel well that is thinner than let say a skyline's.
so maybe like this...
Name of wheel..
Made by..
Stock item #
Size(17/18/19)..
Diameter & Width in mm..
Price..
Picture scale w/tire..
Style: bushings or stubs

ZoomZoom posted a fine list here:

And there was this somewhat short-lived thread:

I don't have the resources at the moment to put together an online database, but how would you guys feel about dumping them all into one thread with a common format? :)
