Alright, I have a 2000 Tahoe with a 5.7 vortec 4X4 old body style...I think I've located one plug...I believe its the filler plug...looks like its a six sided hexagonal type plug on the front part of the transfer case on the passenger side...the other plug which I believe is the drain plug on the rear part of the transfer case...I believe its a plug that you use a crescent wrench on...the one in the back of the transfer case looks like a pain in the butt to get loose because there is a bar right next to it...probably get fluid all over the bar too...lol...anyway just want to know if I'm on the right path before I get to dirty...thanks again, Skip

both the drain and fill should be the same type of plug either a 18MM hex for a 10mm allen. Both on the back. Make sure you get the right fluid back in it some are Blue which is autotrack fluid (GM only). Others are just plain ATF. There should be a tag up buy the drive shaft wipe the dirt off and look if you not sure.

Alright...I found the plugs...they were actually located in the back...I knew one was in the back, but the other was covered up by a safety plate...protected the transfer case...so everything should be good to go...I believe the plugs take a 18 or 19 mm socket...thanks again for the help, Skip

Well, finished changing out the transfer case fluid this weekend...It was a messy nasty job...its pretty much impossible to add fluid to the transfer case without help from another person...got my wife to pump the fluid in...I'm going to have to buy a ton of kitty litter to soak up the puddle underneath my truck....lol...anyway glad I got that out of the way...all my fluids are now changed...thanks for the help.
