Changing the drivetrain fluids.

I need to change the fluids in my tranny, t-case, and rear diff. I was going to get RP until I read a thread at 3Si:
http://www.3si.org/forum/showthread.php?t=353085
So that got me wondering what I should do. I want to go with Redline now and here is what I have picked out:
Transmission: http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1∂=RED%2D50304&N=700+400236+4294872961+115&autoview=sku (http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=RED%2D50304&N=700+400236+4294872961+115&autoview=sku)
T-case/Diff: http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1∂=RED%2D57904&N=700+400236+4294872961+115&autoview=sku (http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=RED%2D57904&N=700+400236+4294872961+115&autoview=sku)
What do you guys think. Do you have any other suggestions?

i put BG Synchroshift II in my tranny and transfercase and if feels like a brand new tranny. All the notchy feeling is gone. I havnt used redline or royal purple, but from my experiences with BG, im definitely gonna stick with it.

Where can I get the BG Syncroshift? I tried looking for it on Summit but they don't have it.

3sx sells the BG stuff, i believe.
ya, i read that thread on 3SI about Royal Purple. bull crap. half the guys that posted said they disagreed with the thread starter. even the thread starter said he made a premature judgment, and admitted that he doesn't know jack about transmissions, adn that it was most likely an totally unrelated problem causing the rattling.
whatever, i don't care. you can't please everybody. ppl who bad-mouth a product always seems to make more of a negative impact than someone who praises that same product.
i've been running RP in my transmission for a 4,000 miles and i'm very happy.
plus, you can pick up RP at any NAPA auto part stores. as for BG...probably only find it online, then you have to pay shipping.

I believe i used mobil 1 synthetic 75w90 for hte rear diff, and penzoil synchromesh for the transaxle, I can't remember which of the 2 i used for the t-case...I wanna say it was the synchromesh though. Shifting was noticeably improved, and no problems to date. ~14k

i buy mine from GT Pro...
http://www.gtpro.com/productshow.cfm?model=3000GT&cat_name=Fluids&model2=Stealth
they get $12 a bottle and youll need 3 for trans and Xcase. If you look hard enough im sure you can find it for less, but its nice to give the business to a fellow 3/s enthusiest IMO.

The only reason I am second guessing RP is because my transmission grinds. I will need new syncros eventually, but I want to do whatever I can to prolong that. The ONLY comment that concernes me was the one about Kormex not liking it. I can't belive the BG is that expensive, $36 plus shipping. Also, one of the reasons I posted this thred was to get some different points of view because I was watching Hot Rod TV last week on Spike and they had a special on RP and I was VERY impressed to say the least. Like I said, the only comment I paid attention to was the one about Kormex.
Anyhow, I guess I'll go down to NAPA and give the RP a try. It can't be any worse than what's in there and who knows if it has ever been changed.

I run Mobil 1 Synethic 10W-30 in the tranny and Mobil 1 75W-90 in the T-case. No grinding/notchyness. Just smooth, easy shifts :).
I ran the Mobil 1 75W-90 in the tranny before I switched to 10W-30 and it was very notchy and grinded 3rd sometimes.

Royal Purple also makes a Synchromax gear oil fluid/additive (http://www.royalpurple.com/prodsa/scmax.html). you might toss 1 qt of that in with the other 2.X qts of 75w-90 RP. that might better aid in your current grinding.

Anyone running Redline ShockProof or whatever it's called? Been thinking of giving that a try next time around.

Here is what I was thinking of getting:
Transmission: http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1∂=RPO%2DRP01512&N=700+4294925094+115&autoview=sku (http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=RPO%2DRP01512&N=700+4294925094+115&autoview=sku)
T-case/Gearbox: http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1∂=RPO%2DRP01300&N=700+4294925094+115&autoview=sku (http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=RPO%2DRP01300&N=700+4294925094+115&autoview=sku)
So, mix a quart of Syncromax with the 75x90 in the transmission. Do I put the Syncromax is the t-case as well, or just straight 75w90?

Yeah, I was looking into that and Summit's site said that it should only be used for race applications. However, I know someone that is running it on 3Si and he seems to like it.

to add, i just saw pepboys selling 3 kinds of royal purple stuff as well!
if you also have an advance auto parts store (or something similar) a la www.partsamerica.com as the reference if you're living out west & dont have an advance auto parts store in the area...
you can actually go into the store and special order Redline-w/out paying shipping fees- from their "warehouse" & do an in-store pickup when they receive it!

I don't mean to steal your thread but I have questions now.. what different fluids should you use? what can you use? twizted said he is useing 10w 30? for the tranny.. mitsubishi says use 75w85 I believe.. and just wondering do you add Synchromax to the tranny or the Tcase or bolth? What about limited slip as part of the options in the red line.. do i just put that in the rear end?

Mitsubishi says 75W-90 for the tranny, but they got it wrong. Getrag says 10W-30 Synthetic, call them on it.
