88 LeSabre - Replacing Flasher Unit

I have to change the turn signal flasher on my 88 Buick Lesabre. Is the Hazzard and Turn signal flashers interchangable? I don't know whare to pick up turn signal flashers in my area. I just want to know if I can swap them? At least it will buy some time so I can go find another flasher. Would the dealer sell them cheap? (3 bux)? or will I have to find it else whare? suggestions on whare to look in Toronto (Canada).?

yes, the flashers are interchangeable. Yes, any major parts store ought to have them for cheap (2-4 US$)

They are located under the drivers side hush panel (a couple 7mm screws, a couple wingnuts towards the firewall), along the column clipped in towards the top of the dash. They are about the diameter of a quarter, and about an inch tall. Genenrally, they are aluminum but I've seen them with plastic casings too, usually yellow. There will be two flasthers, but I never can remember which is which, but there are only 2 so trial and error is easy.

Thanks so much! I will take a stab at swapping them.. right after breakfast...then head off to napa to see what i can get. (I don't feel like doing hand signals in this cold..brrrrr...

Ok, I did it!... swapped them and it works fine... Took a bit to find the turn signal flasher as it was WAAAY up on the stearing column...I did notice that the numbers on the top of the flasher units were not the same.. but tired it regardless.. I hope it don't screw things up... I just confirmed with NAPA, they got it in stock for 8.09cdn... not bad I guess..

Ok now I've got a new problem.... while fixing the flashers.. the courticy lights for the foot area stopped working. But it's not just one light.. it's also the other one for the passanger side as well. I did not get time to test the bulb.. but would they be hooked up in parallel or series? If it's in series.. then once 1 light blows the ohter will be out..I might have just wiggled out the cable.. not sure I'll look into it furhter tommorow. Any suggestions as to what to look for.. ?
