I am actually kind of confused. Do getting bigger rims slow you down or inverse? Does it give you a higher top speed? My reasoning is that the circumference of the wheel is bigger and therefore the car runs farther doing the same revolution.
I dont know, how someone clarify all the scenarios and possible lay the math down. Thanks.

The larger the rim = larger circumference = more surface area to turn = slightly lower top speed. That's the simplest way i can think of to explain it. In my case, when my speedo reads 45, I'm actually doing around 42-43. And thats with 18" rims, 2" larger than normal. It's nothing drastic.

er i think thats wrong..? cuz with 1 revolution with bigger rims you travel further, so youre actually going faster with bigger wheels (top speed wise) however, this is just like gearing DOWN your car, (aka. from a 2.73 to 2.43) of course its not THAT big of a diff, but..yes, your top speed goes up with your rim size.. but your acc. goes down..
also, theres a diff between rim size and tire size.. if your new rim+tire < old rim+tire, you will be going faster top speed, lower acceleration..?
so keep tiny wheels if you wanna accelerate fast :D

Ah, damn you. You're right. I had it backwards. I just used this.

So when I said "In my case, when my speedo reads 45, I'm actually doing around 42-43"
I meant was when my speedo reads 42-43, I'm doing about 45. Thx for catchin that Ikey, I tend not to think straight when I only get 4 to 5 hours of sleep.
