I've had my 2001.5 for about 3 days now. I've just noticed the rear door locks operating in a seemingly random manner. One side, on one instance, the other side on the next, lock, unlock, slow speeds or fast. I'll keep the radio down and pay more attention to when it's happening for better diagnosis. Please help anybody!:sadwavey:

Sometimes the switch can go haywire, causing the door to lock and unlock at random. It is most likely doing it while you are not around the car also. Simple solution would be to disable the power to the locking unit. There is one for each door, there may even be a fuse for the rear doors only (i can't remeber). Good luck!!!

Microswitches are known problem with B5 passats. Once I tried to fix one in the trunk and it works randomly (when opening trunk light is off or on). Change the switch (I think that there is a revised one) or disable it.

I have seen issues with the comfort module on passats. Its located under the driver front carpet and in some cases the wires get corroded and short out the module. If there is more than one door that is randomly locking/unlocking i would think it would be the comfort module thats faulty.

Can comfort module be repaired, and if not, how much is it?
