I just got my powdercoated valve cover. I decided to go with white and I think it turned out perfect. Anyhow, someone was saying that I need to make sure to clean it up. What should I do to clean it up? Second, I want to paint the lettering red. What would be the best way to go about that?

A member on 3Si did it for me. It was $93 shipped and he will give you a $45 core charge if you send him back your old one.

the suggested cleaning of a part after it is powdercoated is to remove any sand that was used to strip it of paint originally in the process. when i got my powdercoated valve cover, it had some sand on it. i would blow it out/off with an air hose. there is always fear that the sand would be circulated through the oil and could get caught in a bearing and do some damage. that's worst case scenario though.
Terry does a nice job, doesn't he?! :p

y not leave the polished lettering? damn that looks good!
I would just use brake caliper paint, but i think any high heat stuff should do the trick.

Yeah, that's kind of why I went with white. Everybody is doing red so I thought I would do something different, plus it matches the car. What do you mean, am I from polygon? I'm from Utah. . .

I could do that and polish the lettering instead. That might be better since I want to go with a polished intake manifold.

They sell powdercoating kits. Then all you need is a big enough oven. Just don't ever cook food in it again.
