Melted Model

well i just melted my model today! bleh! sniff sniff what a waste i wanted to bake it in the oven so it would dry faster 15 mins later i come back and i see this melted piece of plastic in the oven! AHHH im soo mad what a dumb idea

You wanted it to dry faster so you cooked it for 15 MINUTES!!!!???
My god what did you expect? I have cooked pizzas faster than that.

By the way, do you have any pictures of it? I would actually really like to see it.

DOH! Talk about learning the hard way. I use a food dehydrator to dry my models. Very popular item. Now you can use the oven, but DON'T use the heat! Just put the model in there, turn the oven light on, and close the door. That'll be enough dry heat to dry the model a lot quicker. Oh, and put a big sign over the "on" button so nobody turns on the oven by accident! Other cheap methods of drying can be to have a large box w/a small lamp w/a 40 or 60 watt bulb to create warmth. You don't want the heat over about 110 degrees. That's enough to significantly speed drying. I've painted a two-tone model, with clear, and built it in one day. That includes polishing it out. Tamiya sprays...gotta love 'em.

It was a PT Cruiser built a bit like the one Boyd Coddington did.

Painted w/ Tamiya bright red and black, and clearcoated. Wheels are by Aoshima, robbed from a Q45 or something like that. They look kinda like Mercedes wheels, and well we all know what Mercedes did with Chrysler ;^)

My dehydrator gets up to about 110 degrees F. Top racks a bit less. Tamiya sprays can be buffed out after a couple hours in the dehydrator.

Most PT Cruisers would look better melted, but not this one!

I've been sorta meaning to pick up a dehydrator... What model/where'd you get yours? I'm guessing the ones with all the shelves for the jerky don't work out so good...

it was the tom castrol supra it was my favorite model too sniff sniff :( oh wellz ill just go get another 1 mayn i have really bad luck with supra but they are my favorite car i was tryin to make it a street supra instead but guess thats done with i have pics ill post them up later i put it in the oven at 350 hahaha wasnt thinking LoL oh wellz ill just use the other parts as spares well n e wayz there goes a perfectly good supra

whoa!?! cook'n models, now are we?!:D what does it taste like nwayz?!:D lates...

Just think of what the oven was like? Let's see, melted plastic building up on the bottom of the oven, paint fumes cooked inside the oven...I'd recommend a real, REAL good cleaning before you cook something in there. :D
