At least they're suing those responsible..

Almost 2 years ago, here in Utah, a 30-something yr. old man went hunting, and brought his 2-yr-old son with him. The kid fell asleep before they got to the destination, so the father left him alone in the truck for 45 minutes while he hunted. When he came back the toddler was gone and search teams were called out. They did not find the body until about 6 days later, it was found over a mile from the truck. The father was charged with involuntary manslaughter. He was so distraught, he killed himself after being sentenced to 30 days of prison. So his mother (the toddler's grandmother) sued the volunteer searchers. Her reasoning is that if they had done a better job searching, they would have found Gage alive and her son wouldn't have killed himself.

:( Of all the sickening things. Suing volunteer rescuers who spent 6 days in November in snow searching for a lost baby.

Remind me sometime to tell you how the New Zealand Accident Insurance Act 1998 works and why we don't have this kind of litigation flooding the courts here...

Which is probably why we invented bungy and jetboating and the cost of sports here is still affordable (no liability insurance required).

 :angryfire :( :angryfire :(

Now that's right up there with the stupidest things I've ever heard. It never ceases to amaze me how people can be such incredible dumbarses. Do you know the outcome? - has it in fact been resolved yet?

This is the kind of thing that gets a lot of headlines but gets tossed out of court nine times out of ten. Anyone can make up any lawsuit they want and call the papers about it.

What's even funnier is that they might actually win that lawsuit.

Can we say "Good Samaritan Act???" It's like the people whom, years ago, tried suing a passer-by because when he/she was giving CPR before the EMT's arrived she broke the tip of the "victim's" sternum. The "victim" survived, but the family was distraught, so the person who very well could have saved a life was in trouble for breaking a bone...

As for suing BinLaden... I say screw suing him, let's chain him to the new WTC buildings/structures (whatever replaces the land) and let the country go at him.

That was the last I heard of it - I suppose it was thrown out of court. It is definitely one of the more disgusting things I've heard.

I’ve heard about that one too. That just really makes me mad. You go out of your way to save someone’s life and then they try and sue you! It really makes you wonder about some people!

I've heard of several law suits about a similar thing. Somone will hurt themselves, usually in an auto accident, and someone stops to help, giving them CPR or whatever. If the victim doesn't survive, sometimes the "good samaritan" will get sued. Their argument is that since the person is not a doctor, they shouldn't have interfered, or since they don't have a current CPR certification or some such nonsense...

Too bad the dumbass dad killed himself before anyone else could. What kind of moron leaves a child anywhere alone for any long period of time!? He took the easy way out. F*ck him. As for his stupid a$$ mother, she's got some nerve. If she would have sued someone who REFUSED to search for her grandchild (i.e. police, or other ageny) then I would support her decision. Some people these days, I tell ya.

No kidding. I wish we cut our entire budget in half and gave the savings back to the tax payers. Then we'd have more money to spend on things we want, including any products from the third world. It was never their money. Subsidizing the UN and other countries who's government cant get out of their own way is not how I want my money spent.
