What do you think?

I think they should bring the rx7 back with the following:
1. 20B 3-Rotor Renesis Engine
2. Larger diameter single turbo
3. Same body style
4. A more researched configuration, one that makes the rx7 a reliable sports car platform like the NSX.

This is only a wish list.....
She may be unreliable but i still love her.

I agree. You have any idea why they don't bring the tri-rotor over here? I am thinking that perhaps this is a fuel economy move? As amazing as the 1.3-liter bi-rotor is at making power, from figures I have seen, it's not a very fuel-efficient engine. I'd imagine the tri rotor (is it a 2.0?) does even worse in terms of fuel economy.

From what I know the 20B engine (280hp/402Nm) used an averrage of 17l/100km (16.5 mpg) in the stock Cosmo

I doubt that this is a replacement for the RX-7... but i think it look cool anyways.. i really like the 2 suicide doors.. i hate havin to push my seat forward for someone to go in the back , which aint to spacious anyways, when ur in a coupe. does anyone kno the specs on the RX8 ? price, 0-60, hp, 1/4, etc.

I read somewhere in motor trend on a preview of the car that it was going to start around 28k

Yeah, it is to be the 350Z's main competitor. Now that's a tough decision IMO.

yea i figured it would be the 350z's competitor.. oh man.. i was thinkgin of gettin teh 350z and now i just dont kno... i dont kno which to choose... such a hard decision.

0-60 is about 6.0, but it's all about the driver. I know someone that actually drove one in Japan. He had a timer he did it in 5.2. that's pretty damn good

Its a tough call. I think the Z is better looking on the outside. The RX-8 better looking from within. The RX-8 has the much sweeter engine, the Z maybe better chassis dynamics. Argh. Maybe I'll just hold on to my GTX until the new 7 appears.

this is a very tough call, i like the mazda sucide doors, and interior, and the rear seats, the z though has an amazing interior and rear...i dont know..when does the rx8 get out..next spring? and the z is going to be out this summer?

Other way around. The Z is almost here, arriving in spring, followed by the RX-8 during summer (or fall?).

Actually, the Z comes out in August for the pre-sale cars. The RX8 won't be out until sometime in the Spring of next year.

Yeah that's what I've been hearing. You'd think they'd bring it out a lot quicker, considering it's former popularity Stateside. It's already out in Japan, right? I haven't been keeping track of such cars these days--It's just torture, plain and simple to inform myself of cars that I cannot yet afford. :(

I like to look at cars in two way, family cars, and 'performance' cars. This way you don't have to worry about 2,3,4,5.......doors.
what do you consider the EVO Lancers to be? In normal terms I would say a sports car before a family car, as this was its intended purpose.

I think the concept of the RX8 is good.
Real sports car performance with the practicality of 4 seats and 4 doors.

Have you heard the rumour yet that apparently Mazda have built a 3 rotor version? not sure where this started, or if its true or not (I doubt it, but hope it is true).

no, the enigne is still 2 rotors, but sitll good, nice balance for twin turbo, cuz tiwn turboing a 3 rotor is weird. but there are 3 rotors avaliable at www.alamorotary.com, they import jdm 20b's for transplant into late model rx-7's, i dunno if they can do the same for the rx-8 when it comes out tho.

has anyone ever heard that mazda might come out with a rx-8 coupe?

and i heard the price is 25-30k, can anyone confirm that?

I've heard that a convertible version may be offered (I have no idea what they would do with the suicide door setup) but again, there is no confirmation for this rumor.

i dont wanna see a convertable, i dont wanna see a four door, i just want a goddamn coupe, a real jdm supercar.

I have recently aquired a direct statement from Mazda (my connections) that the RX-8 will range from 26--- to the high twentys and low thirties. Although this is an estimate from my "connection" it may be subject to change without notice. I will leave news when I get it.........but for now KEEP SAVING!!!!!

The RX-8 concept is good but hope they (Mazda ppl) add some RX-7 touches to final production...a lil' bit more sexy n aggressive.

Anyway, I hope Mazda comes out w/ a Mazdaspeed tuned RX-8 or RX-8 MPS (Mazda Performance Series). Actually, I think they will coz' they have come out with Mazdaspeed/MPS version of Protege, Atenza, MX-5(coming soon) and RX-7.
