please help me!!! i have a 1999 olds intrigue 3.8 eng. in getting service code p0122 code i have replaced the mass air control sensor and the throttle control sen-now the car wont change gears on time but i took the car to auto zone they scanned the code but could not delete it---please help--901-212-5420??

do i need to make any ajustment to the throttle sensor

TPS is plug and play providing it was installed correctly. Just ensure the sensor lever engages with the drive lever on the throttle body shaft. The TPS is self zeroing and not adjustable.

To check the TPS use a multimeter and check the PCM 5 volt reference signal at the electrical connector. Then the output back to the PCM. .4 volts at idle and 4.0 volts at WOT. In between as accelerator is moved the voltage should be linear and progressive.

You may have gotten a flaky replacement TPS or there is a problem with the wiring to the PCM if the voltages check out. The TPS will affect the transmission.

p0122 ---the pcm has determined that the input from the throttle position sensor ir lower than expected for the current engine operating conditon-i checked it with a circuit tester and the light was dimmed-what i need to check for now- i put the old one back on???

i never use a multimeter howdo i check the sensor???

What the PCM has detected is a voltage less than 0.16 volts for a duration of greater than 1 second. It is important to verify the 5 volt PCM reference signal is near 5 volts first. Hard to determine that with a test light. Digital mulitmeter is better. All that circuit has is input (5 volts) from the PCM module and then output (.4 - 4.0 volts) back to PCM module. Unless the TPS is bad then it could be the wiring from the TPS to the PCM or the PCM itself. Also, check the 80 pin connectors at the PCM module. To verify wiring is good you may need the GM wiring diagrams and pins.
