Air bag, ABS Light, Dash Doesn't Work - PCM?

10-31-2006, 06:32 PM
Hi, all

Can you please help me determine whether the Chrysler shop is BS'ing us?

My retired old Dad has a 1994 Dodge Intrepid with the 3.3Litre engine.

He has experienced the issues as stated, Air bag light and ABS lights stay on, dash board dials and gauges periodically don't work, same with power windows etc.

Our suspicion was that it was a faulty ABS/Air Bag module (both lifetime warranty), but we took it to Chrysler today and they ran diagnostics and said it was a bad PCM (powertrian control module). I didn't think this module had much to do with the ABS and Air Bag etc?

Is this possible? Please help...they want $500 to replace it. :(

Thanks!

I've got a '94 or '95 (can't remember at this moment) parts car with a 3.3, tell give me the numbers off the "bad" pcm and if they match, I'll send you mine. If it fixes your problem you can send me $25 and shipping. My car was in an accident and the previous owner ran it with no antifreeze and seized it up, as far as I know everything else is good. Let me know. If it's the engine computer it's located either on the driver's side under the battery or on the passenger size in roughly the same area. I'm not sure where the body computer is on that car, but I can look. Let me know. I did have similar problems on one of our Intrepids and there is a ground under the dash/ console that had worked its way loose. If you're sitting in the drivers seat, it'll be under the console just to the right of your right knee. I believe it's a 10mm head bolt.

Hey, bigj-dog...thank you very much for the info and the very kind offer. I'll have my dad get the PCM number and we'll see if we have a match.

We'll have a look at that bolt too. Thank you again.
