Vtec\Shift light

I've got 2 questions. First of all, out of sheer curiosity and boredom, I installed a vtec light on my SOHC civic. Now before you try to beat me with a big stick for being so rice, I only did it because I was
a) curious as to when the vtec kicked in, because you can't feel it in a SOHC
b) was really really bored that day
c) wondered why I spent the extra money to buy an EX with VTEC if you dont even know if the vtec kicks in or not.

I tried it with the wire under the passenger seat, (yes, I know I got the right wire) Then when that didnt work I tried splicing it directly to the wire next to the valve cover... the solenoid. Neither lit up. I revved it well beyond 5 and it didnt work, so I took it out and got the engine warm and drove it beyond 5k in the first 3 gears and got nothing. Now I'm just pissed my spiffy little invention didnt work and I want it to! I thought I saw a post around here earlier about the Vtec light but couldnt find it so I'm just going to ask. Anybody got links to sites on the matter or anything?

My second question... once again: boredom, too much free time and curiosity. Is it possible to make your own shift light? I dunno where this idea popped into my head but I figured if I was stooping to 'vtec light level' I've already murdered my ego so I might as well. :sun: hehe

First, your cars temp(meter) has to be around the halfway point, maybe yours wasnt there. Secondly, did you wire it right, with a ground, resistor, and if it was a LED was it atached with the flow of electricity in the right direction?
