Ok this is going to sound nuts BUT... I was under the hood of my 1998 tahoe and cleaning the K&N air filter when I looked up and saw my 1997 740i sittng behind it in the driveway. The Tahoe, round air filter actual element surface area is 10 inches long and 7.5 inches across. I decided to remove the dinan cold air intake and plop this puppy (with the help of some large black hose) onto my air intake. I had to punch a small hole for the air sensor in the hose. It looks mean, and it sounds a little loud at high rpm, and of course......I think I could feel more power. IT isn't major power by any means, and I don't think i have as much off of the line as with the dinan, but from about 20mph and ESPECIALLY from 50 to 100mph when the car is turning high RPM, the car seems to have a more noticiable amount of "pull" Is this just the sounds making me think it has more pull? Or is the extra flow (THAT IS A LOT OF FILTER) conteracting the effects of it pulling in some of the hot air from the compartment? I am also partial to popping the hood and seeing this HUGE air filter sitting there. I am tempted to leave it and put the dinan flow meter on it. Am I nuts, and please be impartial to the fact ANYTHING meant for a chevy is sitting on a BMW.

Oh yeah, just to make sure you guys have ALL the info. Since it was for an air intake hose of the same diameter, off of the tahoe. I also installed the "Tornadado" (www.tornadoair.com) (contraption that has angled vanes to "swrihl" incoming air alowing to to fill the housing more effeciently) directly behind the air filter element. Surly this isn't what gave me the added power.
