2000 Sononam fuel pump problem

I have 2000 Sonoma that fuel pump went out I thought. Then 3 days later went to get truck to bring home for repair, tried to start and bingo, it started just like there was never a problem. Died again, same symptoms pump not running, fuses and relays ok. any suggustions? What can I check or am I missing something, don't want to spend $300-$400 for pump if that's not problem.

pump not running, no fuel being pumped. Tank is full

Got 12v to pump connector on key turn on, if so it is bad, also try rapping the tank with a plastic hammer see if the pump starts up.
