Hello all.. My gf's dad's 01' Oddy is already having Catalytic Converter problems according to Honda.. They told him to replace it. But hes still a good ways under 100k miles.. Is this right? I never heard of cats goin out THAT fast. The symptoms are that noise from the middle of the car and shaking. Really hard to believe it can be the cat.. :uhoh:
Appreciate any help, thanks..

I have a 2000 Ody with 85,000+ miles on it. Our check engine light came on with no signs of anything wrong except poorer gas mileage. They told us we need a new Catalytic Converter and 3rd gear trans. switch. Honda wants $800+ for the CC alone. Luckily I have a garage that can get one for half that with a lifetime warranty. You're not alone. Good Luck.

We had the CAT go out on our 2000 Odyssey (approx. 70,000 miles). THE WARRANTY SHOULD COVER THIS - I believe federal laws have required warranty extensions of 80,000 miles on catylitic converters. Check with the dealer before going somewhere else (beware, thought - they might tell you that you need $500 of other parts in order to keep the CAT working).
