adjustable struts?

anyone ever used adjustable struts? a friend of mine said he would sell me 4 of them off a junked car for 150$ cad.
is there any disadvantages with them?
not sure what company makes them yet.

the brand is pretty important when dealing with adjustables. The cheap ones that I've heard of blow seals left, right and center. This isn't a mod you want to go the cheap route on unless you drive like a granny:naughty: I would also be wondering what makes this car a junked car....if I had anything $worth$ salvaging I would be taking them off before I collected my $50 check from the wreckers

you have to make sure you know what your buying...I have yellow Konis on my car...they are definately a super deal if thats what your buying and they are actually in good, working condition...red konis are stiff, but not adjustable - unless they have changed...you don't know how old they are either - Koni has made some advancements on newer shocks that may not be available on older ones...the price is right, if they are in good shape just remember...do you want lots of play in the ride height, or the firmness/softness of the shock....or both? I think yellows kick ass, someone will likely disagree though:

there yellow. mostly ride height is what i want. they guy said that you could lower all of them so ill go take a look at em tomorrow.

how are koni struts compared to other companys struts?

i like my yellow koni's. i didn't know they were adjustable though. hmm. that explains alot. they ride good for me.

it all depends...I was looking through their site last night and now they have come out with some different ones...some reds are adjustable, some not..and the same for the yellows...I guess they have changed the colour scheme depending on the performance factor..yellow are considered more hardcore and have track capabilities..whereas the reds are mainly a street shock...

I got tokico adj, they're good from what I have seen. I don't have any expierence with Koni, so I don't know how they compare. But the tokico have good reliability from what I've heard from others, and the 7 months I've had mine, no problems. Their definitly great for driving like the opposite of a granny :grinyes:.

koni yellow adjustables are the best shock for the money. Most autocrossers and drag setups use them.

if they're Konis, and they are functioning correctly, you will be set, if they are just the strut, I doubt they are height adjustable, but maybe you are lucky and the car has a ground control/koni setup.

how do i know if my yellow koni's are adjustable or not?
