torque steer

96 Jetta 5sp. when I accelerate I get a pull to the left and when I let off (before breaking) I get a pull to the right. This happens with a moderate to hard acceleration or slowing. Is this a CV. I have checked and cannot see any movement in motor mounts.

You're probably right about the CV joint. I'd check the alignment as well just in case. CV joint's aren't cheep to have replaced and it's not real easy to replace them yourself. If you do, you'll need a 12 point torx set. They cost 10 bucks at an automotive store.

We were both wrong. it was the forward rubber bushing on the lower right control arm. the wheel was moving 1-2" forward and backward on hard stops and starts. thanks
