i know this might not be the right forum but i figured I would get the best answers from the people that visit the engineering/technical forum.....so heres the ?. I want to start a career with cars and figure i got to start somehwhere so i thought i would go to school for automotive technology. I have some choices to make and wanted your guys/gals input. Is wyotech or uti worth the extra money or should i just go to a local technical school? I know its my decision to make but I wanted input if any of you went these routes and ur opionons on it. Thanks for your time.:iceslolan

Hi there, i graduated WyoTech in June. I loved it. but IMHO if all you want is basic auto tech its not worth the money. But if you want training in Custom auto tech/fabrication then WyoTech is the way to go and worth the extra money

What a coincidence a UTI recruiter was at my school today. i'm goign for computers but if I were goign for cars I'd go there. Besides their partnerships with the major auto makers and NASCAR they give free refresher courses on new technology. In the long run you can't beat that.

WyoTech has the same refresher plan and is also partnered with major auto makers and collision shops (Carmax, Sawgrass Ford, Dent Wizard....just to name a couple). Also, Jag and a couple othere Car makers that slip my mind have been known to send their european techs out to the Wyoming campus for training...i think that says something. But all in all, i think all three are good choices depending on what you want to learn. a local tech school for basic shit, UTI for race shit, and Wyotech for Custom fab, chasis fab, interior fab etc. shit. (it also depends how big your wallet is....)

Thnx for ur comments guys....but i got some new ?'s. Greenblur, what did u study and how much was it? How long did it take you to complete ur studies and graduate? If a uti graduate could give their $.02, it would be appreciated. I have some literature coming from UTI, so I'll be sure to weigh my options.

i believe the auto tech training is $23,000-25,000.

i'm hoping to go to UTI Orlando next year.

i paid 23,000 for 3 classes (collision, refinishing and Custom Fab) but that was back in early 05... so im sure the same is close to $30,000 by now... and it took me 9 months@ 9 hrs a day.
