hello all and thanks for reading.
my son bought his girlfriend a new cd player for her galant and proceded to try installing it. as usual it was brought to me to finish, but only after he had cut the wiring harness. i've installed a few radios in my time but the wiring behind the galants was none like i had ever seen. I did get the radio in and working after a couple of hours. thinking i had done good, i finished up and let her have it. well a day or so later she told me she did not have any dash lights, well it was late and dark, so i checked fuses but told her she would have to come back when i could see better. i still haven't looked at it (haven't had time). well she came over this evening (after dark) and said she also didn't have parking lights. so here i am wondering wth? she has no manual so i am stuck. i haven't went back into the radio part cause i'm hoping to get some knowledge before i do.
i know there were wires left and not connected to anything but i did tape them up.
the factory stereo had a main plug with like 12 wires in the main harness and then it had a little plug which resembled a midi plug and then it had a normal antenna cable and then a smaller antenna wire. can someone explain these extra wires and possibly what i need to do to get lights working again?
I pulled all fuses tonite and all are good.
thanks in advance!!!!

Hi, I just bought a 1999 galant and found it had no stereo, the wires were also cut. I have wired up many a stereo but found myself with the exact same issue as you had.
Did you ever manage to sort this one out?
plaese let me know.
Many thanks

You have probably used the Illumination wire for your earth at the radio
the radios have light illumination to dim or apply lights to the radios at night
I have diagrams if you require them with wire colour codes
Just email me with request put radio wiring in subject line so I dont just delete as spam mail
