custom turbo - on my sohc

as some of you may know, i recently totalled a turbo chrysler new yorker. i have been told by a few people that i should use the turbo off the chrysler.

now my question is this... say i do decide to take the turbo from the chrysler and custom fit it to my civic. what would i need? what kind of power gains could i expect? what boost levels would that small ass turbo produce? i'm sure the gains won't be extreme, but since i have the turbo already, maybe i can gain 50 or so horse for a few hundred dollars and have a nasty bov too ;)

someone help me make this reality.

what do i need to remove from chrysler and what do i need to buy to make it fit and work with the civic? my main 2 questions there.

hopefully if this works, it'll hold me over until i get my swap + real turbo kit.

i don't recommend making custom kit because of all the headaches, and getting it to work properly once its on. you need lots of stuff for the kit, and if everything is okay, you can prolly gain 60-70 hp intercooled with bov. that tdo4 probably wastegated at around 5 psi, but you can easily up the boost, doubt you would want to though on your stock motor. if you are just looking for small hp gains, maybe 30-40 hp, you don't need an intercooler or bov. just get hf manifold, with adapter plate, downpipe, charge piping, fmu, boost gauge, and thats about it. if you don't know what you're doing, you could blow your engine very very easily. homemadeturbo.com should give you some ideas.

i've pretty much been following their website religiously. i hopefully can get some friends together to help me out a bit. but it seems easy enough as long as i can just get everything i need and get it all to fit.

as for boost i only want 5psi. i dunno if i wanna use the tdo4 because i think i wanna use the dsm o2 sensor housing because its easier or so i hear.

is the wastegate on the td05h (14b) (stock dsm) adjustable

what is an fmu? fuel management unit? something like that? i have a fuel pressure riser already.

thanks for the help. i really wanna complete this project for my car, and for me personally.

fmu is fuel management unit. it adds more fuel according to how much boost you are running. it is different than your fuel pressure riser. you will need the fmu no matter what unless you are running some sort of engine management that controls fuel.
Yes, the wastegate on the 1st gen dsms are adjustable. as for the o2 sensor, you don't need the o2 housing, why don't you just plug in your o2 in the hf manifold, it already has the hole for the 92 and your o2 will fit perfectly in it.

isn't the o2 sensor housing part of the downpipe though?

thanks man. i had 2 of those 3 sites, i'm starting to think this may be a bad idea. my motor is probably on its way out, and i don't have another beater car in case i blow the d16. and i'm sure i will. a friend of mine with a newer lude with an fmax turbo has so much shit. he runs at 7psi and has turbo timer, boostcontroller, boost guage, vafc, and very well dyno tuned. i dont think i wanna put a shitty junk yard turbo in my car because you just never know what will happen.

maybe i'll save up to buy a stolen motor? lol
