Following up on my previous post with the mystery beep, I took apart my dash today and found that it was previously tampered with. The airbag light bulb abd socket were REMOVED from the instrument cluster. I went to the scrapyard and took one from a 2002 Focus and it worked since no local parts place has that socket. Now on the problem (new one)
I have a code 32 from the airbag light. Horn works, cruise works, stereo controls work. I fiddled under the seat and all seems fine though I didnt remove it to inspect. Any ideas beyond the clockspring issue?
Assuming its the clockspring that is faulty, does anyone have the procedure for doing this and what should I expect to spend on parts?.
thanks

The fault could be a due to a bad clockspring, faulty driver's airbag module, the RCM, or wiring. Typically, a code 32 LFC is due to a faulty clockspring. Such was the case on my wife's 02. Everything worked fine, but she was getting a code 32 LFC. Fortunately, her's is still under extended warranty, so it was replaced at no charge to us. I don't know what the expected cost is.
However, this issue has been addressed on this forum numerous times, as well as the steps to replace it. Please use the wonderful search feature on this forum and search for the steps.

I have an 02 also with the same 3 blink then 2 blink (32) code for my airbag light. Just came on the other day. Did the clock spring solution work?

Questions like this are asked and answered all the time here. There are specific items that are required replacement items when a deployment occurs or when an airbag light comes on...and there are some items that are "check only". Check out this website for the EXACT answers to your questions including fault code charts. This site tells you exactly what needs to be replaced (seat belts & all) on over 3500 cars. It's a pay site, but it's little money well spent to get the correct answers and to see exactly what you're after...it uses pictures, not text, so you can see what you’re looking for.

Good Luck...it's not too bad of a job & if your state allows it, used parts or parts from ebay should be ok
