It looks like I may be forced to do an upgrade to a B series engine, I'm looking at doing a B16 but I don't know a whole lot about them. Another thread on clubcivic gave most of the details about the differences and said that for a 5th gen civic the B16A SiR II or B16A3 is the easiest (most direct bolt in swap). Can anybody confirm that? Also can anyone tell me how easy the harness swap is?

Yes, you want an A3 as that is the OBD-I B16. As for the harness, you can use your existing harness. Since you have an Si, you're already wired for VTEC so the only wire that has to be ran is for the knock sensor which comes from pin D3.

Is there any changes to the engine mounts?

Oh yeah, I thought you were just talking about wiring. For the entire swap you need axles, mounts, and shift linkage. Also, make sure the swap you get comes with the trans and ECU. It's all different from D to B series. Check this (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=19176) out.

Thx. I'm looking at PasswordJDM.com for the swap info. They don't list by B16A B16A2 or B16A3, they list by generation, Gen1 and Gen2. Are the B16A3's engines that came in the US versions of the Del Sol's or were they japanesee only?

Is your B16 the A3?

JDM engines only said B16A. US engines had the 1,3 or 2 depending on when gen they came out of. Yes, the A3's (in the US) only came in VTEC (that was the name of the model) Sol's. I have an Sol Si (D16z6). If you want a JDM engine, you want the OBD-I Gen-II: the equivelant of an A3.

OK, is the shift linkage on the B16A tranny a cable shifter or is it like the D series MT's?

depends on what one you get. The older ones ('88-'91) and the '92-'93 Integra XSi b16a's are cable, but the other ones have the shiftlinkage bar thingys (like the d-series).
