Swapping a Tuneport for a C5. Anyone know of any wiring or electrical differences which will be encountered in this swap?

You mean you're putting an LS1 in a C4? That rocks! No I've never done it before.

as far as wiring....if you are taking a motor out of a C5, then i would suggest getting the PCM, FULL wiring harness, and alot of patience. keep us posted.

yeah thats gonna be a bitch of a wiring mess. considering they are both fuelinjection they are both all wired up and im not sure about the similaritys and differences in the wiring. it will either be smoothe as can be or its gonna look like a big bowl of speghetti. but you will need the whloe wiring harness and computer. that will be nice as hell when its all done.

That's going to be a tough one. Do you have a budget on how much you want to spend? It won't be cheap or easy.

Even if you get an engine w/a pcm and harness, it'll still take a lot of reprogramming to make it run. The computer won't see (so to speek) the transmission. Both the 4L65 and the 6 speed have ecm inputs. If the harnesses aren't plugged into anything, there will be all kinds of driveability issues. Say you do wire in a 4L60-E into the car, the harnesses will still have to be cut/spliced for shortening. Wheel speed sensors, ABS system, electronic steering, etc... There's more electronics in a newer Vette than what people realize.
A truck system would have fewer circuts to mess with, and a truck w/a stick shift would have even less.

The C4 instruments won't communicate w/the engine management. How will you get a referance signal to operate the original tach? Temperature sending units (both oil/coolant) and the oil pressure sender from the L98 can be plumbed into the LS1, but the C5 uses fly-by-wire. You'll have to swap in the electronic throttle pedal.

Check out Painless Wiring. They now have ecm/harnes kits that are packaged nicely. They just might have one for the LS1. Then you can still use your original tranny.

The Z28 engine would have the cable operated throttle. You can probably get a truck engine cheaper than an aluminum version (so opt for the 6 liter, the 01 and later has better heads). The truck oil pan is deeper and the water pump has a top outlet, you'd have to get a shorter oil pan and front outlet water pump from a car.

It can be done. So if you want something really rare and can afford the price and the hassle, go for it. A mildly modded 5.3 can produce 500+ horse power, even more from a 5.7, I've seen the 6.0 dyno 800+ when given the proper treatment. The truck intake produces better results than the car unit, so keep that in mind too.
Do your research before you spend your cash and get estimates for work that others will have to do.

Good luck.

IT CAN BE DONE.........this is my 1991 vette w/ a 99 maro ls-1..what I have gone through to make it run (properly) has been extreamly $$$$ had to swap the 6 speed for a B&M TH-400.....new drive line....had to change out the throttle pedal to a TPS style $475.00......the hits just kept on comming!!!!!

good luck to you, if you truley want it to happen it will......only thing I can say is BE PATIENT!!!!:banghead:
