Peugeot 307 WRC Rallye Monte-Carlo 2006 Henning Solberg

May not be around here as much as I used to, but I’m still building occasionally. Here is my latest, as the thread title suggests it is Henning Solberg's bright orange 307 from this year's Monte. Sorry for lack of a progress thread and interior pics. Also sorry about the low resolution. My website is dead so I used photobucket which cut the pic size down to 800x600.

Excelent finish as always!!
It's so clean and decals seem with no escess film, did you cut them or clear coat took care of that?
It's nice to see you posting again.

Thank you very much guys. :)

Sasa: In this case I used Tamiya's PE set. Haven't bought the Renaissance set, but will if I have a go at Giggi Galli's yellow Pirelli sponsored car.

2f4u: The paint is a custom mix of GSI Creos. Mainly orange and fluorescent orange with some red and yellow.

Rodrigo: Both. I trim the carrier film off the decals as much as possible then spray multiple clear coats. Sanding and polishing to make the decal edges as invisible as possible.

Superbly inspirational model, this is such a great looking car and you have made an awesome model!
What lacquer did you use?
Where did you source the wheels? I have my eye on Stohl's OMV car as a project!

Absolutely brilliant!

The colour is spot on! Although I don't think I've ever seen it look so nice this year, Henning has normally stuffed it somehwere after a few stages, apart from in Turkey where he was a fantastic third!

Thanks again for the kind words gentlemen. :)

Guiddy: Clear lacquer is Tamiya TS-13. First few coats over the decals decanted and airbrushed, the rest straight from the can. Wheels are out of a Tour de Corse 2002 Peugeot 206 Tamiya kit. Had to modify the suspension to accept the male fitting as Tamiya have moved to the Fujimi/Aoshima female type fitting.

TvD: Decals are a mix of Studio 27 and Renaissance. Neither is complete so using both is the only way to be close to accurate.

Not only has Zeljko kindly hosted pics of my rallycars at www.hrmodeler.com, but I have also relocated my model gallery to http://rallyraider.i8.com. Including larger pics of Henning Solberg's 307.

BTW I hope Renaissance or similar plan to release decals for Bruno Thiry's new 307 livery - it is the best yet! :)

This is... Well, how to say that ? Perfect ?!?

Thinking I have this one to build too... I am affraid about comparison ! :yikes:

Did you detailed something in the inside ?
Can you tell us more about what comes from S27 decals and what from Renaissance ?
I didn't noticed S27 decal sheet wasn't complete... :disappoin

Well, I didn't take a look yet to Thiry's 307 but what do you think about Toth' s one ? :naughty: :grinyes:

Beautifully finished as always, and good to see you are still building. What's next? Personally I think it's time you built an F1 car. How about a BT50 or 191. I know you have both tucked away.

The thing I admire most in all of your builds is the way you get those windows so damn clear. They are sow flawless that you would be impressed if you got that shine on your real car...

You don't happen to have a list of which decals you used for what by any chance?? :naughty:

RallyRaider

If I recall correctly the major errors are: Renaissance sheet has reversed colour BFGoodrich logos for the tyres, clear (so the orange shows through) instead of red Diplom-IS lettering on the front guards and the window numbers are dull orange, not fluorescent. Studio 27 misses all the interior decals (Bozian racing on the seat sides, drivers names and dash sponsors), lacks the circle around the small expert star and has the wrong spacing on the rear wing En Pro lettering. Although I ended up using the S27 rear wing decal so the orange of the En Pro decals matched.

There might be more I have forgotten or didn't notice! :) Smallish details perhaps but they add up.

Stunning Phil, I really love it. It looks very, very clean.

It's a pity we didn't see the progress on it. It comes somewhat out of the blue right now (:
