i should have mentioned this before but i am using the OEM scissor jack. that was my problem i was jacking where i needed to place the stands! could i jack just beside where i am supposed to with the scissor and then place jacks in the notched out spots on both sides like it says in the picture? not sure..

Some repair manuals show alternative locations for jack stand placement. Do you have a repair manual? You should look at a manual before working on the brakes. Modern cars have specialized instructions for bleeding and compressing calipers that do not pertain to older cars. Especially if you have anti-lock brakes.

under the rocker panel? I have never seen anyone place a stand inder the rocker panel. Use the factory jack then look just behind there and you'll see the frame and place the stands under the frame.
