1994 buick lesarbe blower motor

Hi i have a 1994 buick lesabre. the heater blower motor recently left go on it. i replaced it but still doesnt work. tested motor and test show that motor is good. followed the motor wires back to fuse panel. fuse not blown. no broken wires(tested with multi tester)no power to the fuse. kept on following the wires from the fuse panel to a black box with a electronic board and a controller for a flap that directs the heat to the floor(one of those flaps anyway). so theres no broken wires to this point either. So the million dollar question is it possible that these electronic boards let go and how do you test them.

What type of system do you have, the ACC (auto climate control) with digital display, or the manual system :confused:

If you have auto climate control (ACC), the system uses a "blower control module" for fan speed control. Usually when the module fails, it will be in the “no run” mode or, where the blower motor runs continuously. (Even with the key off). It looks like you got lucky, yours failed in the “no run” mode.:disappoin

The "blower control module", is located on top of the fan box and under the fuse and relay section on the firewall. (Passenger side) It has two wiring connectors and three screws holding it in the box. (See pics below)

You can get a new module from most GM dealers, for about $150.00. Also, check with your local salvage yard, (usually about $50.00) It is such a common problem, they usually keep one at the front counter. Be careful when buying from a salvage yard & try to get the same part number as the original. (The part number will be on the module). GM made four or five different modules that look similar; however, they do not have the same part number, number of wires, or the same functions. :screwy: (Some are three pin and others four pin) In addition, you can purchase an aftermarket module from Advanced, O’Reilly and NAPA for around $100.00.

THX alot man The "resister" in actually a module because its an ACC type heater. is there a way to safely bypass it or test it to be sure its that part becuase its 200bucks thanks

If the motor runs when you apply a 12V bypass lead directly to the motor, yes it is a bad “blower control module”. You can get a new module from most GM dealers, for about $150.00. Also, check with your local salvage yard, (usually about $50.00) or you can purchase a new aftermarket module from Advanced, O’Reilly and NAPA for around $100.00. I have a 1999 Buick Lasabre with a similar problem. My problem is not that is will not blow at all, or that it stuck in blow all the time. My problem is that it will sometimes blow, sometimes not. Sometime it will come right on when you crank the car and other times it will delay, sometimes 15 minutes, sometimes an hour.
would this be the same part?

Yes - It has the same control. Automatic Climate control.

It would be unusual for the module to work intermittently. I would check all electrical connections, including grounds, to and from the module, then down to the blower motor. With the fan controls on, check the purple wire at the fan terminal for power. If you have power and the fan does not run, suspect the blower motor itself.:disappoin

That fixed that problem Thanks I have a new problem now. The battery drains overnight however if I leave the car for 5 days the battery is at the same level of discharge as 1 night. What I am trying to say is that it does not go compleatly dead. Almost like when it get to a certain voltage it just stops discharging.. Could this be a bad diode in the Alt Thanks Ron
