my trans just started to do this last week. when i put it in drive or any gear it takes a few seconds to engage and its starting to stop working. it feels like im in neutral when i stop the car and try to go again without putting it in park. any ideas??

It may be too late, but first check the TV Bushing (http://www.lincolnsonline.com/tech/00052.html). If you let it go too long, which may be already, it's trannie rebuild time.
