I've been reading a lot of the comments, and what blows me away the most is that 99% of you guys neither OWN nor even ever DRIVEN the damn thing! First off, the car's styling is unparelled, notice the F-Body people don't even TRY and compare their tired ass looks with Stangs and Cameros to the new Z. I can't even drive down the street without people drooling on my car. It is the best looking car out right now hands down (except for exotics). Interior is VERY nice, go ahead and sit in one. I drove a 996 for awhile and talk about plasticky. Anyway, the ride quality is unparalled, it drives like it is on RAILS (a quote form like 3 magazines, including CAR magazine, a European mag. that normally hates Jap. imports.) Now, the one complaint everyone has, speed. I do not drag, but do engage in a little street racing now and then. The car, stock, has more low end power then my 93 300ZX TT. It can pull from any gear in any RPM. That said, I'm sure that it will just about keep up with newer style F-Body type cars, prob. not pass them by, stock. Unless of course we get into twisties and then BYE BYE. But the point is WHO CARES??? I know a 88 Hatchback Civic w/turbos that pulls 12's. It will kick the Z's ass. It's Still a HATCHBACK CIVIC. When I pick up women in my car, they are speechless. They all think it's some new model Porsche. Seriously. I see the Stangs and Cameros and gag, and I owned an IROC Z28 for over a year! I am not against Domestics or anthing but at the end of the day, those cars look tired, old and uninspired. Look at what nissan is doing. Car mags, are not comparing this car to mustangs, they compare it to Z3's, Boxter-S, SLK320's and S2000 and it either Hangs or spanks those rides easily. When someone buys the Boxter-S for 55K+ they aren't thinking, Hey this better beat that new 33K Mustang. They could care less. Go drive the car, you will be a believer.

I must admit it is quite comical when all the domestic guys hang ouf over here and brag about how their car is faster and the Z is a POS. I wonder if they realize that the Z doesn't even compare to those cars. do they say the same about the Boxster S, the M coupe, the S2000, etc,etc.... Speed isn't everything brother, BUT basically you are getting the same performance as a Boxster S for 1/2 the price and the same quality, the same can't be said about the domestics. The car is a whole experience, speed is an issue, But I would much rather have a 911 than a Vette, a Ferarri 360 Modena to a Viper and a Z that a stang or Z28-thats just the way it is. If you think otherwise, you are argueing and trying to impress the wrong crowd.

I guess what it comes down to is why do we try and spend so much time trying to impress people that we could absolutely careless about?? They will NEVER see it our way, and we will never see it theirs.

I have had mine for 5 days now and I am in full agreement with you. I'm sure the discussion might approach boring if all of the new Z owners post replies on this thread and everyone just agrees over and over again but I have nothing else to offer than to say that you given the gospel. The Z is so friggin dialed in it boggles the mind. I have yet to come back to my car in a lot and not see it surrounded by ooglers. I feel like I should bring napkins for all of them. And I have been complimented by drivers of 50,000, 70,000 and 80,000 dollar cars.

"Damn dude, nice car!"
What else can I say?

Lay-Z,

That's the reason why I'm trading in my Mustang for the 350Z enth. If what you say is true about the 350Z, then look like I made the right decision.
See my posts in the "Disappointed" thread.
