Well its sad to say the least but my car overheated and now is blowing a vast amount of white smoke, which only leads me to believe water is burning in my piston chamber, I'm going to order the b16a or a D16z6 motor, now at http://www.hondamotorsonline.com/shop/ they have the complete swap for $1150, my question is i have a base civic 4 spd with the crappy Dual point injection, the swap comes with:

Complete motor and cable tranny(Y1,S1,J1)
ecu (PR3,Pwo)
axles with half shaft
shift linkage
stock motor mounts
engine harness and all sensors needed.

will these JDM stock motor mounts work or do I need the ones from Place Racing? If so whats the cheapest price on a mount kit.

woo hoo just droped my head off at a shop that specializes in heads and pistons and stuff, they are only cleaning it and machining it but it should give me more hp anyway!! :D

a blown head gasket takes about an hour to fix. these cars are so easy to work on you can have the whole head off in like a half hour if you know what you're doing.

Hey Im interested in the SOHC VTEC motor, is this an easier swap to my base crap Dual point motor, Direct bolt in right? would I need the wiring harness? of course I'd have to get the 5spd Si tranny, would I also have to get a vtec controller for it as well? I'd also need an ecu right? sorry just very interested in this setup and see you have the experience already.

the d16z6 or d16y8 SOHC VTEC motors will drop right in. you CAN use your stock tranny but it is recommended that you get either an Si Tranny or a ZC Tranny. and yes, if you have a DX you'll have to get another ECU. the p28 VTEC ecu from a 5th gen civic is recommended but a CRX/Civic Si ECU will also work although you wont get the maximum peformance. if you use the Si Computer you need an external VTEC controller.

Check out these sites for more detailed swap info.....

If you still have questions feel free to ask as many people on this board have performed the swap. it is rather easy. I'd say the most challenging part was the wiring (going from dual point injection to multi port)

Thx for the info, very helpful, I'm at the point of deciding b16a or d16z6, though problem is I have to head hunt for an Si tranny & ecu whereas if I order the b16a I get the package deal tranny, ecu minus having to order the mounts for $350, someone mentioned cheaper ones but I'd like to know if there is if anyone can fill me in. I have to finish up the swap by this month, will post pics of before and after.
