Instrument Cluster Question

I have a 2002 Trailblazer LT and the some of the led's on the digital readout is on the blink. My question is, if I buy a new cluster off of Ebay, will my actual mileage still show up or will I need to find one with close to the same miles? Oh by the way, this is my first post and I tried to look in other threads to see if this topic has been discussed before but no luck. Thanks for any help in this matter.

I'm pretty sure a dealer would have to program the odo for you. I'm not aware of any DIY method for this.

Thanks, I guess I'm going to try to find one on Ebay for a descent price. I assume that I can get one with any mileage and have the dealer reprogram it?

Check this out I believe the memory for the odo is in the bcm/pcm not the head, check with your/ or a dealer.

I just called the Dealer, they claim that the mileage reading is stored in the cluster not the BCM/ECM. They also claimed that they couldn't set the mileage to the current mileage on the new odometer. I'm screwed usless I can find a cluster with very close to the same mileage. Thanks for all of your help.

That's odd. AFAIK, dealers swap out entire IPC's all the time due to failed tachs, etc.. Swapping out the IPC will require an odo 'adjustment'.

Ok, thats right there is a chip in the cluster, just made some calls, the SM at the dealership fills out a form verifying the displayed miles on the car, then the cluster is done on an exchange basis, this dealer is on the wrong planet..
