I need some precise advice coz i'm planning on changing my 2000 Civic LX 1600 engine with a 2.0 or so. Help.

a 2.0 (K20 engine) will be EXTREMELY hard to fit in a 2000 Civic. Better bet go with the 1.6L SI engine (B16A2), or the Integra 1.8L engine (B18), they give out 160HP and 180-195HP respectively.

Aww man, what a downer. Hmmm, do you think they sell these engines in surfplus factories? The reason im asking is bcoz my car has a 200,000 mileage and i'm worried of being stranded in the middle of nowhere. And yeah, What is the reasonable price for these engines? I don't want to be scamd or something like that :naughty:

are you saying that a DOHC engine won't fit in my car too?

both engines I mentioned are DOHC, and no, they don't make these engines anymore, you'll have to look online (ebay etc.) or go to a reptutable junkyard and get one. If you want one in good shape (and by all means you should) plan on spending about $1500 - $3000 for a B16A2 and as much as $5000+ for a B18 (Integra GSR) engine. Add to that the labor from a shop for installation. PLUS, you have to swap the transmission too, these engines won't hook up to an automatic, and the gearing on LX Civc's manual transmissions is different.

All in all, you should be able to get a decent B16 (1.6L) swap, complete with engine, trans, and labor for under $6000. The B18 should run you in the ball park of $7-8000

I have a 96 civic dx that is completely stock. What is the best way to upgrade it with out spending alot? And also I was thinking about putting in a k20 engine, would that work or is there a better engine to put into it?
