i replaced the rochester Q-jet on my 86 k10 I used to have with the edelbrock 1406. My truck was already missing all the smog crap and the only vacuum lines I needed were for the brake booster and the vacuum advance.

yeah thats about it... i dunno if you have a fuel vapor canister, but if so, it probably should be hooked up though it dont matter a whole lot

The main vaccuum lines to worry about are the tranny modulator line, power brake booster, vaccuum advance unit, and the pcv valve. The tranny modulator (if you have an automatic), and power brake booster go to the rear of the carb and can be t-d to use the same source (although most auto. engines have a vaccuum fitting screwed into the rear of the intake to accommodate the modulator hose). The pcv goes to the front of the car, not ported and the vaccuum advance uses the ported fitting on the front of the carb, the box should tell you which fitting is the ported one. Once those are hooked up it should run, you'll have to check and see which other stuff doesn't work after it's back alive, and diagnose accordingly. Also, don't forget to add an inline fuel filter to the fuel supply line, the factory quadrabog has one in the housing of the carb, and your 1406 doesn't.
