Hello i am new to the volvo threads...

Anyways i just bought a 1993 Volvo 940 non turbo. Trust me i know this is probably the dumbst question i have ever had to ask, but the ac button.. pushed in is what... On or Off.. ha ha ha.. I know i know.. the reason i am asking is because i cant tell if i can hear the compressor kick in or not also the rpms jump a little no matter if i push it in or out.. Also the fact that it is getting cold in the northeast which makes it even more difficult to tell if theres a temperature change. Moral of the story which position of the ac switch means the damn thing is turned off.
