WRX for better acceleration and AWD grip...I like both...it's tough...if you are going to pick up a GTI...pick up the 337...

WRX, WRX!!! Sorry, I'm not much of a VW fan, even though the GTI is a nice car.

If you don't get a WRX, you'll need Help. Personally I have nothing against VW, There's on in my family, but the WRX has far too much going for it, AWD, 227 Bhp, cheap and Rally Heritage and it's tons of fun wiht a manual, but I hear San Fran has some nasty hills, so that would rule out the manual, for me anyways.

If jesus was a car he'd be a WRX, God would be a 911 GT2. :D

why would hills rule out a manual for you Porsche? because you roll back/forward too far ha ha j/k. both cars have their highs and lows. wrx has a lot of power, tons of fun to drive, and is a rally bred vehicle. the gti is a nice car, cheap luxury i would say. both cars repond well to mods, I've heard the VR6 engine reponds very well. but i've read some posts on other boards where people have been saying that VW have had some electrical problems and other problems as well. Nothing very major, but problems nonetheless. i'd go with the wrx though, VW are more expensive to maintain/repair.

I would purchase the GTI (either the VR6 or thr 1.8T) hands down over a WRX. Nothing against the WRX, but nothing beats european design and handling. The WRXs are meant for the young crowd of high school and college kids. The GTI is meant for the more sophisticated driver.
Subaru will just never be a sports car company. I own a GTI 337 and would not trade it for the world.

Should I include amond those supperb european cars the Opel too. Oh wait they are pieces of crap. And are you trying to imply that VW makes sport cars or even luxury cars? A wrx will spank any VW. And why are you so sophisticated driving something called people's car?

And don't say that i'm biased against europen cars because i lived in europe most my life. But the really nice european cars are BMW Aston Martin etc. Only in the US VW has such a good hype in europe is just an average car.

HEY !!!!!!!!
If I were you, I'd pick something that you'd really prefer because I have a friend who rally races and drag races the WRX. And he's had a lot of experience with it and he told me that the Tranny(transmission) on that car has some flaws. Because 2nd gear is really screwed up but its still a good car.
And the VW GTi eventhough I have one, it ain't so perfect either but its still a good car. And if YOU were to pick a GTi. I'd get the VR6 because its faster then the 4 cylinder turbo.
And if you were to put a body kit on the GTi with an air dam to add a front intercooler, get the 2001 model. That's what i did. I traded in my 2002 model and got a 2001 model with a cash difference given to me because the body kit didn't fit that well.

SO IT DOESN'T MATTER !!!
JUST PICK WATEVA U WANT !!!!
PEACE !!!!!!!!!!!:bandit: :grey: :sun:

well who ever said that gti can handle better then a wrx is dreaming. the GTi has become such a main stream luxury car, that it handled the worse out of Sport Compact Car's comparision. even the lowly Civic Si outhandled it, makin the GTi rank dead last. you sit in any modern VolksWagon car, even the GTi with suspension package, the suspension is still too soft. and you think the WRX's tranny has problems? well the GTi's Diff is extremely weak. if you burn out with that car, the rivits will come loose by the centrifigal force, and the rivits that are now sticking out will rip a whole right in your transaxle. really cool huh? this has been demonstrated many times.

Youre right, WRX has better acceleration and grip than the 337. But if you guys in the States are gonna get the Golf R32, with 250bhp and AWD, i would choose that over the WRX every time. R32!

My brother drives a GTI VR6 2000 model and he was thinking about selling it and buying a wrx.....i dont think their is a real complarison teh WRX has so many capabilities, i think if u like imports and u want to do work on a car then get the WRX because its less expensive although they both have high maintanence and repairs, subaru in the long run will be more fun and better for you

R32 is a crazy nice car but its alot more expensive and its really heavy. I think if you want the classy sports car and dont want to buy a BMW then get the r32.......but if u want pure sports car go with the wrx and do some suspension work and ull fly and hopefully wont kill yourself!! :)
