Finally took it to Pepboys for new brakes, shocks, and to have the sterring fixed. Good news is the shcoks have stopped the car from sinking on the front right, and really improved the ride, and the brakes no longer feel spongy. The wandering in the steering has been fixed through new tie-rods, but now the wheel is off-center, and to the right, as if that is its new center. It feels as if the steering wheel were center, but it looks turned to the right. I'm thinking of having them fixed it, since the work is covered for quite a while, but I feel like I'm being picky. So should I have the wheel centered?

That's totally up to you.

It is however one of my biggest pet peeves. A tire/alignment shop does its work but doesn't center the wheel... it's like leaving the cherry off the sundae or something. Such a small thing that can be very easily remedied with a friggin' pipe wrench in most cases!

I guess it depends on how much it's bugging you.

Thats exactly how I feel, as though they just got tired and figured it wouldn't matter. Its not an issue really, since it doesn't affect the handling at all, but I was thinking that if I went to sell the car, the buyer may be wondering why the steering wheel is about 45 degrees to the right.

Have that thing centered, you paid for the work...I can't stand to have an off-center steering wheel.

I had an off center steering wheel that was still off after i took it back a second time. I posted the problem here and Old Master sent me solution and I took it back a third time, gave the service manager the "how too" and they got it right on the third try. I posted it here: http://www.geocities.com/ericn1300/steeringWheel.pdf
