Overheating / Radiator problem?

I have a 96 Dodge 2500. Today while driving to work my truck suddenly went to max temp, over heated, and when I pulled over to check it out I saw that all my water/coolent had sprayed out. It all seemed to have sprayed out from the left hand side of the radiator, but it wasnt leaking from the upper radiator hose. It seemed to have come from the lower left hand side of the radiator, but I could not tell because its tucked down below the fan. Or perhaps it was the upper radiator hose, but dried by the time I checked it so I didn't notice? I have also noticed and "sloshy" sound when I drive from about where the heater core would be, but nothing has leaked in the cab and when I tried giving it gas, once I pulled over and added some water to the radiator I got the same sloshy sound. I gave it about 30 mins, then filled the radiator to full with water and the coolent / overflow tank about half full with water as well and it seemed fine after that, the temp gage was hovering just before and around 200. As well I was able to drive all the way back home with no problems and when I got there I let it cool for a few hours and then started it up and let it idle for 15 mins and still no problems. I only smell antifreeze from under the hood though, not from the tail pipe, which I hear indicates a head gasket problem. I'm actualy quite stumped.
The temps here at night have been droping into the low 30s about 34-37 at night. Im not sure as well since I am new to where I am living if I completely filled the tank with antifreeze, there had to be some though as it spilled out as well when it over heated. Not sure if the water freezing would be the problem and just adding some would be the fix.
I am about to call some radiator places, but wanted to post this here to see if anyone had any thoughts on this problem or has experienced the same and can give me a clue here. I don't know if its a problem with frozen water in the lines, a radiator leak, thermostat, heater core, ect. Thanks for taking the time to read this and for any help.

ask some friends for some recommendations for a mechanic in your area, have the cooling system flushed and a new thermastat and radiator cap installed and the system pressure tested. shop should refill with a 50/50 mix of quality antifreeze and water.

Sounds like you have a stuck thermostat.

I bet it was freezing. Antifreeze wasn't strong enough.
