removing dealer decal. help=

hi i searched this forum and didn,t see any help about this. i have a car with a used car lot decal on the trunk. how do you guys remove it. thanks.

Now, remember this, I've never done this, but this is what I'd most likely do. Take a razor blade and round off the corners of the blade as to keep it from digging into the clearcoat and scratching. Use the razor and push at a 45 or less (but not much less) degree angle to remove the badge. Again, I'm just giving an educated guess here so don't blame me if it scratches the paint, should you opt to do the above.

Again, I'm just giving an educated guess here so don't blame me if it scratches the paint, should you opt to do the above.thanks for the reply. i used a hair dryer to warm the decal. then i scraped it off gently with a plastic card. then i cleaned the area with turtle wax. no scrathes,etc. remaining. it was an old used car dealer decal.probly about 3 or 4 years old.

DON't use a razor blade!! If you are anywhere near a razor blade carefully wrap it in paper and discard it or safely hide it until you're done removing the dealer decal or pinstripping!
Best way to remove a dealer decal or pinstripping is with a common hair dryer. That's right. Sure, you'll have to go through the bother and maybe even a little embarassment to set it up, but I can assure you; IT WORKS, and FAST! The time you spend thinking about what else you could use rather then the hair dryer will be equal to the time it takes to remove all the pinstripping and decal from your car, WITH the hair dryer.Simply, direct the heat just in front of the direction of travel that you'll be pulling the decal/stripping off and gently pull the decal/stripping away from the car body. Try to pull close to the body of the vehicle to prevent decal/stripping from breaking. I stripped the stripping off my Caddy CTS in less then two minutes with the hair dryer on the passenger side. Before I read of the hair dryer I attempted to do it on the driver side without anything and it took almost an hour and I had to buy goo gone to remove the glue left on that side. Believe me on this one...HAIR DRYER IS FAST AND FURIOUS!

plastic razor and a heatgun. Heat up and scrap off. Spray precleaner on the glue residue, scrap off and then wipe up

this works great. take a hair dryer to warm it up. then put "goo-gone"<- i think thats the right spelling, you can get it at walmart, works wonders. anyway. put the goo-gone on it and just peel it right off. use the goo-gone to get the left over sticky stuff. lol
