I was wondering if Alcad2 paint would withstand masking tape or solution over it... would the tape/solution pull off the alclad?
If it can, how long do you guys let the alclad cure before applying the tape?]
Thanks beforehand for any replies.

I have found that I can mask quite safely (with Tamiya tape) without any problems. Although I would try to keep masking over chrome to a minium.

Is there any way to reverse the process? Paint the part the final color, mask it off, then apply Alclad Chrome? I've done that when painting a '72 Nova bumper/grille assembly. Painted the grille area matt black, masked it off, then shot gloss black and Alclad on the bumper. Here's a pic of the end result:

I was asking this mainly because of engine colors... a certain engine may have 2-3 different metalics colors to it...so basically I want 2 or more alclad colors on the same peice...
Thanks klutz.

If you are not using chrome, the regular metal finished will mask just fine. You can treat them just like any other paint. I use them all the time. It's the high shine finishes, chrome, polished aluminum and stainless steel that are more sensitive to handling.
